eyeshots
2015
proposal for a series of billboards throughout NYC
eyeshots is a series of billboards broadcasting calculations of our involuntary body movements over the course of a lifetime: breaths, heartbeats, eye blinks.
The calculations are proclamations of corporeal interconnectivity. Several billboards appearing in New York City either simultaneously or consecutively will create an urban textual body.
In order to solicit solidarity and shed light on political policies of separation, a percentage of the messages will appear in languages other than English, including Ukranian, Arabic, Hebrew, and Sanskrit.
The messages — though statistical curiosities—are, fundamentally,
reminders of systems that connect all life in micro and macrocosmic
networks.
Black text on yellow background — the colors are familiar indicators of road signs that inform and warn.
